Summary Edit

Chalk and cheese: An example of a car well-suited and lightly-modified for track use, alongside one which is running factory suspension and road tyres. In a straight line there is not much between them - if anything the Golf is slightly quicker due to its more powerful engine. However, throw in some corners, and the light, nimble Mazda grips well and leaves the heavier VW way behind, struggling with time-wasting and inefficient understeer.
